What are institutions? The media area we are studying is film and institutions are those big six production house which rules the media industry in the whole wide world. These production houses produce one of the finest and highly grossing movies that are watched all around the world. Let’s have a look on these production houses.
The above picture shows those six big names who own almost all of the film/television media in the industry. Under these names, big production houses like “universal pictures” or “marvel studios” work. These companies own almost anything played on television from Films to news etc.
Lets discuss some of the notable work these companies have done in the industry.
We as the audience are pretty much aware from Marvel Studios. This production house works on a specific genre which is comic. They are known to bring comic superhero characters to reel life. They produce movies only on superhero/action genre.
Marvel studios is based in California and they operate in Walt Disney studios. Marvel Films today known as Marvel Studios was formed in early 1993 till year present. Movies such as Iron Man, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, Black Panther and other motion pictures characters inspired by the comic marvel books were chosen to make movies over. However, marvel was limiedd with the production criteria on what and how much to produce.
Moving on lets have a look over Columbia pictures who act as the distributor in the media industry. Columbia pictures has distributed several films such as Terminator and spiderman 3. These pictures were highest grossing all over the world and gained huge fame till date. This company is an American production and distribution company. This is one of the big names in film companies in the world and known to produce extraordinary movies. Since Columbia pictures was founded in 1919, It has been owned by several companies till date. Coca-Cola has also owned this film company back in 1982.
